ONE RULE FOR THE RICH
(Landscape)
‘No rules in the pictures of the beautiful, they sell, and that is all.’
Man climbs a mountain smokes a cigarette,
You see he’s rugged and he’s healthy but they never said,
That he’s a Superman, he’s got lungs of steel,
and he will never die, because he’s just not real.
One rule for the rich and the powerful,
A fool believes it all.
No rules in the pictures of the beautiful,
They sell, and that is all.
Spotless kitchen on a TV screen,
I see a pretty girl working and she’s squeaky clean,
She says there’s ninety-nine ways to make life brighter,
She’s a Supergirl – I’ll never meet a girl like her.
One rule for the rich and the powerful,
A fool believes it all.
No rules in the pictures of the beautiful,
They sell, and that is all.
I turn around what do I see,
I see a lip-gloss goddess smiling down at me,
She’s got a bottle in a packet full of happiness,
She’s with a Superstud, who can please her the best.
One rule for the rich and the powerful,
A fool believes it all.
No rules in the pictures of the beautiful,
They sell, and that is all.
[spoken]
It’s another world beyond the screen,
Where all the things I seem to need,
Are way beyond my means.
My old school tie won’t open doors,
And my lonely vote won’t change the laws.
One rule for the rich and the powerful,
A fool believes it all (you try to sell me anything at all)
No rules in the pictures of the beautiful,
They sell, and that is all (not another glamour girl)
